Dry Farming

Dry Farming is the practice of growing certain drought-tolerant crops with little or no irrigation. Plants access water deep underground that is replenished each year with the abundant rainfall we get in Western Oregon. We utilize no-till farming, cover cropping, tarping and mulching to store more water in the soil and support a diverse community of microorganisms that help deliver water and nutrients to plant roots.

Less Water = More Flavor

In addition to making our farm less reliant on a dwindling supply of groundwater, dry-farming also produces intensely-flavored foods unlike anything you can find in the grocery store. That means melons and tomatoes that taste sweeter and more complex than their irrigated counterparts. Less water also improves the shelf-life of storage crops like squash so they keep all the way through the winter.
